# How does a SIP speaker work?

 A SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) speaker operates by connecting to a network and using the SIP protocol to receive audio streams. When a call or audio broadcast is initiated, the SIP speaker decodes the audio packets and plays them through its built-in speakers, allowing for clear, real-time communication or announcements.

A SIP Speaker can be SIP register to a SIP server or act as a stand-alone (Without a SIP server / PBX) operation utilizing multicast.
